Audacity export range: selection, whole project and muted tracks

Audacity's export range determines both interval and track scope. Entire Project and Current Selection are not interchangeable, and mute or solo behavior needs review under the chosen mode. Inspect the actual export dialog and selected tracks before treating a shorter or different-sounding soundtrack as failed source retrieval.

Identify the intended interval and contributions

Keep the project and unchanged source recordings and choose the exact receiving task: one passage, a full listening mix or separately retained files. Check selection boundaries against complete words and relevant pauses. A highlighted short interval can remain from earlier editing and is not automatically the desired export scope.

List the contributions the recipient needs and inspect their track selection, mute and solo state. Preview can help identify the mix, but do not assume its audible state defines every export mode. A source with multiple project tracks is also not automatically delivered as independently selectable language streams.

Read the export range and mode-specific behavior

Use the current documented File > Export Audio workflow and inspect Export Range before accepting the destination. The manual distinguishes Entire Project, Current Selection and Multiple Files. Choose a new filename and an actual supported output format and review channel and sample-rate choices separately from the range.

The manual describes Entire Project excluding tracks made inaudible by mute/solo, while Current Selection exports from selected tracks even when some are grayed out by those controls. That is a meaningful mode difference. Verify the installed version and intended selected-track scope rather than assuming muting a contribution guarantees it is absent from every selected-range export.

Verify the actual saved mix and endpoints

Open the saved file outside the project and inspect its beginning, final word, duration and required sound. Confirm that a full delivery did not become a selected excerpt and that an excluded contribution is actually absent. Check an overlapping passage where unwanted reference music or a second speaker would be audible.

Inspect channels as well as tracks: a mixed stereo file does not preserve every project contribution independently. Keep the project and source for revisions and label excerpt or mix outputs clearly. SocialVidDownloader does not control Audacity's selections or mute/solo export semantics. Its local media tools require actual supported files, and a native export choice should not be reported as a public-source downloader failure.

Worked example

Example: an editor mutes a reference track during playback but exports a current selection containing that selected track. Review the mode's documented behavior and the actual output before sending it. A quiet project preview alone cannot prove the delivered excerpt excluded the reference contribution.
