Find and verify a completed video in Brave
Check Brave's download record and the destination file separately. A recorded transfer does not guarantee that its file remains present after a move or deletion, and clearing history is not an archive workflow. Verify the local recording before changing site permissions or repeating a provider request.

Locate the relevant browser record
Use the Brave instance and profile that handled the download. On desktop, the internal downloads page can be opened with brave://downloads. Its available controls and presentation can differ from mobile versions.
Identify the result by name and transfer time. Look for completion or an explicit error rather than assuming that a familiar title means a ready file. A result opened in a tab may still be remote playback.
If you switched profiles or devices, the file may not be represented in the record you are currently viewing. Check the actual receiving computer or phone instead of repeatedly extracting the source.
Check the saved destination
Use the entry's available file-location control when present, or inspect the configured download destination through the local file manager. Preserve duplicate suffixes while identifying the correct result.
A file moved after downloading can leave an older history entry pointing to a location that no longer contains it. Search the chosen destination and any folder where you intentionally moved it.
Open the actual completed file and verify duration, picture and sound. A history entry without local media is not a recoverable backup, and a thumbnail alone does not identify the full recording.
Use Brave-specific permissions only when relevant
Brave documents site permissions under Site & Shield Settings, including automatic downloads. Use that guidance when the observed message is actually a site-permission issue.
Do not disable all Shields because a source extractor failed. The local browser's transfer controls are separate from server-side provider access. A permission change cannot grant support for private or unsupported source content.
Keep Safe Browsing warnings separate as well. Brave documents its protection behavior, but a successful permission change does not certify that a downloaded payload is safe or valid media.
Preserve files before clearing records
Brave's data-deletion help distinguishes categories such as download history. Read the wording of the specific action before clearing or removing entries, especially across desktop and mobile implementations.
Keep the verified file in a deliberate local or permissioned archive location. Clearing a browser record should not be your way to decide which copy is retained. If an editing project references the file, check that reference before moving it.
For a persistent issue, report the platform, Brave version, transfer state and sanitized error. Avoid private URLs, cookies and personal paths. Those details establish whether the task failed at the browser transfer, local storage or source-processing stage.
Worked example
Example: Brave lists a completed transfer, but its old destination is empty because the file was moved into a project folder. Locate and verify that existing copy before starting another request. The stale history location does not establish a provider failure or lost source media.
