Timeline interchange: verify transitions and retiming after import
A timeline interchange can carry an editing description without preserving every effect, transition or retiming decision. Compare the imported edit with a known reference and the required source media before accepting a roundtrip. Successful parsing or a familiar sequence name does not prove that the receiving application reproduced the delivered presentation.

Define the exchange and retain a reference
Identify the actual interchange format, exporter version and receiving editor support. An EDL, an XML-based timeline and an audio-focused interchange have different capabilities; their names do not mean a complete project archive. Keep a reference movie of the intended edit and the source project while making the exchange.
Document frame-rate and timecode context, required source identities and any dependencies supplied separately. The receiving application must resolve real media, not merely import clip names. When handles are needed for transitions or later changes, check that the supplied source ranges extend beyond the current visible cut rather than assuming a trimmed package retains every option.
Inspect boundaries and time-dependent behavior
Compare hard cuts, dissolves or other important transitions at known moments. Look for a transition replaced by a cut, altered duration, missing effect or repeated boundary frame. A format can represent some transition information while still failing to reproduce a particular plugin or implementation in another editor.
Review constant speed changes, ramps, reverse segments and freezes separately. A receiver may interpret time mapping differently or omit an unsupported operation. Check the source event chosen at each boundary as well as overall duration; two sequences can end at the same time while containing different intervening pictures. Confirm corresponding sound and captions instead of checking only the visual track.
Verify a receiving render and record unresolved differences
Render a short representative portion from the imported project and compare it with the reference at normal playback speed. A cache or preview on the sender's machine does not establish the recipient can reproduce the result. Review titles, masks and other resources that might depend on fonts or plugins outside the interchange file.
If a feature did not survive, choose an agreed remedy: rebuild it from documented settings, supply a labelled flattened segment or use a better-supported exchange path. Preserve the editable original and describe any loss rather than quietly calling a rendered substitute fully editable. SocialVidDownloader does not create EDL, AAF or project interchange files and cannot recover project structure from a movie download. A useful handoff records the actual receiving checks and remaining limits.
Worked example
Example: an imported timeline retains clip order but turns a speed ramp into a constant-rate segment and replaces a dissolve with a hard cut. Compare those moments with the reference render and decide on an authorized correction. A matching total duration and a successful import banner do not make that roundtrip complete.
