A video archive reports a CRC error: do not trust partial extraction
A CRC error during archive extraction means the extractor did not validate the relevant stored data against the archive's check. It is not a video-codec diagnosis. Treat any partially extracted movie as unverified, retain the package and error context, and obtain a checked authorized replacement when the archive cannot be read reliably.

Identify the package and failing entry
Record the archive format, extractor and exact error, including which entry failed. A multi-file package can contain some successfully extracted resources and another damaged or missing entry. A visible movie filename in the destination does not establish that its extraction finished or that every required project companion survived.
Keep the original package unchanged and choose a separate destination for a controlled test. Do not repeatedly approve overwrites of a working file with partially extracted content. Also distinguish a password-required or unsupported archive feature from a CRC validation failure; those messages require different supported workflows and are not evidence that changing the video extension will help.
Compare the transfer with a known source when available
Ask the authorized sender to identify the intended package version and, when practical, provide a checksum for that completed archive. Compare it using the same algorithm after your transfer finishes. A mismatch points to different package bytes but does not by itself identify whether the sender's source or the transfer path caused the difference.
Use a trusted extractor that supports the actual package representation and inspect available integrity-test results. If a replacement is supplied, save it under a distinct name, verify completion and extract to a new folder. Do not disable malware protection or run an unsolicited repair executable merely because an archive contains valuable footage.
Verify the extracted media and archive claim separately
After an extraction without reported integrity errors, inspect the wanted movie's size, duration, scenes and sound. For an editing package, check the project and required external resources as well. Passing an archive checksum or CRC validates a particular byte relationship; it does not prove the sender originally packaged a complete, accurate or safe movie.
If supported extraction still fails, retain the error and request a fresh package or ordinary file delivery from the owner rather than claiming recovered original content. Partial media can sometimes open, so an opening frame is not a sufficient acceptance check. SocialVidDownloader does not repair third-party ZIP packages or supply missing archive entries. Keep its real prepared output separate from a later transport archive and preserve the last verified file until the receiving copy has passed its own checks.
Worked example
Example: a ZIP yields a playable opening scene but reports a CRC error for interview.mp4. Do not approve that artifact because the first seconds work. Compare the completed ZIP with the sender's reference, obtain a verified replacement if necessary, and check the extracted movie through its ending before accepting the handoff.
