OBS image changes: retain the exact referenced graphic version

An OBS Image Source references an actual graphic file; a source name is not a frozen copy of its earlier appearance. Preserve the approved asset version, inspect the referenced path, and verify a deliberate replacement in the scene and saved recording. A changed preview alone does not document which graphic belongs to an archived production.

Identify the native resource and accepted graphic

Select the intended Image Source, open Properties and inspect Image File. Confirm the actual authorized file instead of relying on a similarly named scene item. Keep a separately identified copy of the approved graphic before changing its path or saving new content under the same filename.

Record whether the asset is a still, an animated image or another supported representation. A single preview cannot verify every frame of an animation. Check required transparency and meaningful wording, and preserve enough version context to distinguish a corrected label from the earlier production asset.

Replace a source deliberately and inspect visibility behavior

Use the native Image File selection to point to the intended retained revision. Prefer a clearly versioned asset when the production needs a reproducible association. Do not infer that all references using an old path have updated safely or that another scene’s similarly named source necessarily uses the same resource.

Inspect Unload image when not showing where supported. That setting concerns inactive-resource handling and possible reload delay, not an automatic archive of earlier graphics. Activate the receiving scene and compare the actual displayed asset; do not promise identical live refresh behavior across every version or asset type.

Verify composition and saved output

Check the replacement’s edges, aspect, transparency and readable text in the actual scene. A revised file can have different dimensions even when the old placement still exists. Inspect whether a label is clipped, a background becomes opaque or the graphic obscures important camera content.

Create a short authorized recording and reopen the actual completed file. Inspect the changed graphic at a meaningful point and through any scene transition. For animated material, check the intended timing and ending rather than accepting a single correct frame. Keep the accepted recording distinct from an editor or source preview.

Preserve a reproducible production handoff

Retain the exact image version with required scene and movie context. A later replacement under the same path can alter a future render without changing an already completed movie. Record that distinction so another operator does not assume the current source asset reproduces a historic accepted recording.

SocialVidDownloader does not manage OBS source references or recover an earlier graphic from an overwritten file. Its image watermark and images-to-video utilities remain separate supported tasks with their own inputs. Preserve authorized originals and inspect actual outputs; leave a missing or uncertain required asset unresolved instead of using the retained movie as proof that the editable graphic is still available.

Worked example

Example: a graphic is corrected under the same path, but the archive needs the earlier approved label. The completed old movie still shows that label while a fresh scene uses the correction. The operator retains distinct asset versions and records their associations rather than assuming one path is a complete history.
