Import a numbered image sequence with its intended timing

A numbered image sequence supplies separate still files that an editor can interpret as consecutive video frames. Preserve the complete set and its agreed frame rate before importing it into Premiere. A single image or a folder thumbnail cannot establish the sequence’s full motion or timing.

Check the supplied frames and their intended role

Identify whether the handoff is a sequence with one image per frame or simply a collection of reference stills. Ask the sender which files belong together and what timing they intend. Several numbered photographs do not automatically constitute a captured movie.

Keep an untouched copy of the delivery and inspect the first, last and several interior frames. Check for unrelated files, repeated names and apparent gaps. If a required frame is absent, request the authorized missing resource rather than inventing a new captured moment or silently renumbering the retained evidence.

Record the supplied dimensions, filename pattern and count when known. Keep an accompanying soundtrack as a separate identified asset. The image filenames do not by themselves establish an audio recording, its language or its synchronization.

Establish the timebase before import

Adobe’s current sequence-import guidance uses Media preferences and the Indeterminate Media Timebase menu to set the frame rate. Use Edit → Preferences → Media on Windows or Premiere → Preferences → Media on macOS, following the current installed-version controls.

Use the sender’s intended rate, not a guess based on the filename extension or the project’s marketing label. For a hypothetical set of 240 consecutive images, interpreting one frame per image at 24 fps produces ten seconds; at 30 fps the same count produces eight seconds. This is arithmetic for the example, not a measured property of every delivered set.

If the original timebase remains unknown, record that uncertainty and compare against a permitted reference. A plausible duration does not prove the historical capture rate. Do not label the interpretation as verified merely because playback looks smooth.

Import the numbered set as one image-sequence clip

Adobe directs users to supply equal-length digit numbering at the end of each filename with the proper extension. Its import route is File → Import, select the first numbered file, enable Image Sequence, and open or import it. Premiere then treats each numbered image as one video frame.

Review the actual resulting clip rather than assuming that selecting one file collected the complete intended delivery. Compare its count or duration against the documented handoff and chosen rate. Keep other takes in separate folders so an adjacent numbered series is not accidentally treated as part of this one.

Do not solve a continuity problem by changing the only supplied files in place. Work on a controlled copy when a documented preparation step is needed. Preserve the original names and your reason for any revision so a later collaborator can understand the relationship.

Verify motion, timing and any separate sound

Play the imported clip and inspect recognizable changes across the sequence. Check the opening and final images and a section near any suspected gap. A correct first frame cannot certify the rest of a hundreds-file delivery.

If a separate narration or other authorized soundtrack belongs to it, check actual landmarks against the agreed timing. A mismatched image interpretation can change duration without changing the separately supplied sound. Do not compensate blindly for that difference before establishing which timebase belongs to the source.

Keep aspect ratio and color interpretation in the receiving review when they matter. Those are separate properties from sequence numbering. A successfully imported series can still be stretched or displayed differently from the intended reference, requiring the relevant media-property investigation.

Retain the set and the rendered delivery separately

For future image-sequence editing, retain all required frame files and their identity notes. For ordinary playback, create and verify an authorized movie through the editor’s supported export workflow. A rendered movie and its image-sequence inputs serve different retention tasks.

If packaging the set for transfer, preserve its relative organization and confirm that the recipient receives every required item. Use the ZIP and manifest guidance when applicable. Do not delete the source set just because a new movie has the same subject.

SocialVidDownloader does not export individual frame sequences or import them into Premiere. This is an external creator handoff for independently supplied permitted resources. Report any missing frames or uncertain timing honestly rather than claiming a recovered original video from an incomplete set.

Worked example

Illustrative handoff: an animator supplies 240 numbered images and specifies 24 fps, with narration supplied separately. The editor preserves the set, imports it as an image sequence at that rate and verifies the ten-second example against the animation reference. The complete frame set remains separate from the checked viewing export.
