Why formats can change after you analyze a video

Analysis is a snapshot of source availability, not a permanent reservation of streams. A creator can change access, remove media, or publish different versions, and temporary source addresses can expire. Reanalyze the original URL when a previously selected output is no longer available; do not invent a replacement quality.

Distinguish a source change from session expiry

If the original media still appears accessible but an old preparation action fails, the analysis session or source stream address may no longer be valid. If the source itself was removed or restricted, fresh analysis can also fail. The symptom alone does not prove which happened.

Check the exact stage and message. A stale session, missing format, and unavailable content response are different observations. Preserve the original media URL and selected properties, but do not keep trying temporary extracted addresses as if they were durable public links. They represent processing state rather than a permanent file archive.

Make a fresh choice from the current inventory

Analyze the original supported URL again and inspect the returned title, dimensions, codecs, and audio information. Do not reuse a selection identifier from a different analysis. The set of current options may differ, and an old identifier may no longer describe an available combination.

Choose a suitable actual option. If the desired quality or language is absent, state that limitation rather than substituting a lower-quality stream under the old label. A published source-player feature does not guarantee that every stream is exposed to public extraction. Fresh analysis can update the evidence, but it cannot restore a deleted upload or grant private access.

Check the completed file independently

Once a new preparation succeeds, save the file and verify playback, duration, and requested audio streams. A previously downloaded complete local copy is a separate object from the changing source and may remain usable when a temporary link expires. Keep its version and authorization context if retaining it.

Do not assume an older saved file matches a revised upload just because the URL or title is unchanged. Compare useful metadata and content when version identity matters. Report the original selection, fresh inventory difference, and failure stage if the mismatch remains. This supports a truthful diagnosis without promising that a retry always restores every earlier source format or silently creates a missing soundtrack.

Worked example

Illustrative case: an earlier analysis exposed a higher-resolution stream, but a later analysis returns only a smaller option. The tool should show the current choice honestly. It must not reuse the old quality label on the smaller stream or treat a stale selection as a successful download.
