Snapchat My Data: verify media separately from account records
A Snapchat My Data export can contain account records and selected Memories resources. Its request, ZIP download and individual media downloads are different completion steps. Inspect the actual chosen scope and saved recordings before calling it a complete backup; a history entry or archive index does not prove that every required video is retained.

Choose the owner export scope through the official account
Use your own authorized Snapchat account in its official environment, not credentials submitted to this downloader. Snapchat documents My Data through accounts.snapchat.com or the app’s Settings entry. Select the requested data and date range and confirm the notification address before submitting. Those choices affect which records the export can contain.
For the documented Memories-only route, enable Export your Memories and choose Request Only Memories. Check the intended range rather than assuming that a narrow date selection includes older needed recordings. Keep usable originals and existing exports while the request is prepared. An accepted request or notification is not the downloaded artifact itself.
Inspect the received package and actual media resources
When ready, use the official See exports and Download controls and retain the actual ZIP. Extract it with a trusted supported archive workflow. Snapchat’s Memories instructions describe opening index.html, choosing Memories and downloading individual items or the available set. An index listing and its references must not be reported as already verified movie files.
Keep a simple expected-item list and inspect the actual receiving downloads. Compare source identity, date context and recognizable content rather than relying on one familiar thumbnail. Do not redistribute the whole account archive just to share one permitted clip; its unrelated account and activity records can carry private information unnecessary for that recipient.
Verify required videos independently
Open each required saved recording in a suitable receiver and check picture, meaningful sound and ending. Confirm actual duration and content. A nonempty ZIP or completed browser transfer proves neither that all requested media was available nor that every individual item plays correctly. Preserve failed or absent items as unresolved.
Distinguish the downloaded rendition from a camera original and editable production resources. Keep the production parent when later work requires assets absent from the export. Snapchat notes that retained information categories and availability can change, so do not promise that every historical item remains recoverable or that a metadata record reconstructs deleted media.
Keep native backup, export and public downloading separate
Check Memories Backup Progress through the separate native backup guide before a device or app change. That completion state and an independently verified export serve different retention purposes. Keep accepted copies under clear identities and record the scope actually obtained.
SocialVidDownloader does not request or process private Snapchat account ZIPs, inspect Memories or recover deleted account media. Public Spotlight remains a separate Beta downloader, and Story downloading remains unsupported. Use the official account workflow for this task and report the actual retained resources without converting a pending request or index-only package into a fake complete backup.
Worked example
Example: an owner downloads a My Data ZIP containing a Memories index. Some actual movies still require their documented download step. The reviewer obtains and checks the required recordings individually and records any missing item, rather than calling the index-only package a complete video archive.
