Wi-Fi is connected but a video download cannot reach the internet
A Wi-Fi connection does not always mean the network has granted internet access. Check for the network’s authorized sign-in or terms screen before retrying a video download. Once connectivity works, return to the downloader and diagnose its actual stage; network sign-in does not guarantee that the source itself can be processed.

Separate the network connection from the download task
Start with the device’s network state. If ordinary newly loaded sites also fail on the selected Wi-Fi, investigate connectivity before changing video formats. A cached page or an already playing local recording does not test a new request to the internet.
Look for a network sign-in notification or welcome screen appropriate to the venue. The absence of a download entry can reflect a page that never completed its request, whereas an explicit provider response establishes a different stage. Record the visible state instead of describing every failure as the video being removed.
Keep the original source URL available for a fresh attempt later. Do not keep pressing a processing button while the network’s own access requirement remains unresolved; repeated attempts add little diagnostic information.
Use the network’s authorized joining workflow
Apple’s current iPhone and iPad guidance places captive-network joining under Settings → Wi-Fi: select the network and wait for its login screen, or use the network’s More Info control and Join Network. Complete the network provider’s required sign-in or terms process where you are authorized to use it.
Apple also documents a Without Internet option that keeps the device associated with the network while dismissing the welcome screen. That state explains how Wi-Fi association can remain without usable internet access. Network charges or requirements belong to the provider; contact that provider if the joining process fails.
Other devices can have different joining controls. Use their current operating-system or network-provider instructions rather than assuming an iPhone menu exists everywhere. This is a network-access workflow, not an instruction to sign in to a social media account through the downloader.
Verify connectivity before returning to the source
After the authorized joining process, load a trusted page afresh and check whether it completes through the intended connection. Then open the downloader page and repeat the original task. These observations assess network and page access; they do not certify the availability of every media server.
If you compare with another connection you are permitted to use, record the network change and keep the source and browser task stable. Consider the actual connection arrangement, including any mobile data use, rather than assuming the device stayed on the original Wi-Fi because its name was visible earlier.
If the network is managed and a category or service remains blocked, ask its administrator about the policy. Do not use this guide to bypass the venue’s access rules or a source platform’s restrictions. A connection suitable for one web page can still have different behavior for another destination.
Retry the download at the correct stage
For an analysis attempt that never reached a result, submit the original supported source again after connectivity is established. For a prepared file whose temporary link expired, reanalyze and choose from the current real format list. Do not assume a stale link becomes valid again when Wi-Fi sign-in succeeds.
For an interrupted browser transfer, use the separate resume guidance to check what the browser can actually resume. Keep incomplete and completed files distinct, and verify any resulting local movie. A new network connection is not proof that a partially saved recording now has all its bytes.
If analysis returns an explicit unavailable or unsupported response after the page is reachable, use the relevant provider help. Missing quality or audio choices are also source-inventory questions. They should not be attributed to the captive portal solely because an earlier network problem occurred.
Keep the report specific
Report whether the network welcome screen was completed, whether fresh ordinary pages loaded and which downloader stage failed afterward. Include the exact error text where useful. Omit network passwords, access codes and account credentials from public reports.
If a saved item is actually a web document, inspect it through the HTML-response guide instead of renaming it to MP4. If a complete local file exists and will not play, investigate media compatibility or damage separately. Those later artifacts need their own evidence.
SocialVidDownloader does not authenticate you to venue Wi-Fi, collect its credentials or guarantee network availability. This guide isolates a common prerequisite so you can retry through supported access without claiming that network sign-in creates new provider capabilities.
Worked example
Illustrative case: a phone remains associated with hotel Wi-Fi after the welcome screen was dismissed without internet access. The download page never completes a new request. Completing the hotel’s authorized joining process and verifying a fresh page addresses that prerequisite. If the subsequent source analysis still reports unsupported content, that is a separate result rather than proof that the Wi-Fi diagnosis failed.
