FFmpeg filter outputs: map the intended branch explicitly
A filter graph can create several processing branches while the output mapping selects which one reaches a file. An unconnected label or wrong map can therefore be a routing error rather than bad source media. Trace inputs, filters and exported outputs separately before accepting a graph that merely finishes without error.

Identify real input streams and graph labels
Inspect the source stream list and use explicit input labels for the intended picture and sound. A numeric stream order is not necessarily a stable track identifier. Keep the source and command while reviewing a small test, especially when the input contains attached artwork, multiple languages or additional data streams.
In a complex graph, bracketed labels refer to connections within processing. Naming a branch does not automatically save it, create a second source file or guarantee that another output uses it. Read the chosen -map arguments and the actual command log instead of inferring exported content from a meaningful-looking label name.
Keep split branches and output selection distinct
The split and asplit filters supply multiple branches of video or audio processing input. They are not an independent backup of the retained source. Each branch can receive another transform before output, so compare the actual routed branch with the artifact the recipient requested.
A simple illustrative structure is "[0:v]scale=640:-2[review]" with -map "[review]" for a resized video output. That label and mapping identify a processed branch; they do not include audio automatically. Select needed sound deliberately and use an actual compatible encoder/container. Keep the new result separate from the original and do not call the resized output recovered source detail.
Verify the saved streams rather than graph activity
Inspect the output’s stream list, dimensions, duration and intended content, then listen to required sound. A filter running successfully on one branch does not prove it was the branch exported. Compare meaningful picture events and the ending, and review any warnings or incomplete destination left after failure.
If the graph fails, preserve the diagnostic category and remove only known disposable failed output after retaining useful evidence. Do not repeatedly rename labels until a command exits successfully without checking what it produced. SocialVidDownloader does not expose arbitrary user filter graphs or interpret a branch label as a public format. Its bounded local tools still require genuine preparation and actual file delivery, separate from an external graph-routing experiment.
Worked example
Example: a graph creates a blurred branch and an unchanged branch, but -map selects the unchanged one. The saved movie can be valid while failing the requested blur task. Trace the labelled connections and verify the actual output picture instead of declaring success from the filter’s presence in the command.
