Final Cut auditions: verify the chosen take before sharing
A Final Cut audition holds alternatives, but the current pick is the performance used in the edit. Choosing and finalizing that pick are different commitments. Review the selected picture and sound in context, preserve the project’s alternatives while deciding, and inspect the shared file before reporting which take the recipient actually received.

Identify the audition and the acceptance decision
Select the intended project revision and audition. Record whether the alternatives differ in performance, effect treatment or text, and keep the reference for the intended result. A row of available clips does not prove which one is active, and another similarly named audition may belong to a different part of the edit.
Listen to the complete phrase and inspect neighboring action before choosing. A favorable facial expression can coexist with a clipped word or unsuitable transition. Keep the original library and source resources available so a viewing choice does not accidentally become the only retained evidence of a different take.
Choose the native pick and understand finalization
Apple documents Clip, Audition, Open, or Y, for the selected timeline audition. In the Audition window, select the pick and play it; selecting an alternate to its left or right makes that alternative the new pick. Review the actual result rather than inferring it from the order of thumbnails.
When the decision is made, select the intended clip and click Done. Clip, Audition, Finalize Audition dissolves the audition and leaves its pick in the timeline. Preserve an appropriate project version before finalizing when further comparison matters; this command is not a bulk archive of every alternative or a reversible receiving movie format.
Verify the chosen performance in its timeline context
Play from the preceding cut through the audition and the following cut. Compare sound, duration and any connected title or background contribution. An alternative’s different timing can affect what the viewer hears or sees around the selection, so check the result in the actual project rather than only the isolated audition window.
If connected material must stay at its previous position, inspect the supported connection-preserving edit behavior and verify it deliberately. Do not assume every alternate switch preserves the same source event underneath a caption or graphic. Revisit the pick if a clean individual preview produces an unsuitable combined scene.
Verify the shared artifact and retain accepted context
Share the intended project or range to a distinct output through the supported workflow, then reopen that file. Check a recognizable word and action from the selected take, the start and ending, and the required soundtrack. A completed share notification does not independently identify which project revision or pick was delivered.
Record the accepted pick and project version and retain required sources for later work. SocialVidDownloader does not choose Final Cut audition alternatives or reconstruct them from a flattened movie. Keep a viewing export separate from the library’s editable alternatives, and leave a wrong-take output unapproved even if its duration and encoding look valid.
Worked example
Example: an audition contains two performances with similar first frames but different final words. The editor selects the intended pick, checks both surrounding cuts and listens to the saved movie. The alternative remains documented rather than assuming that a thumbnail or share success identified the right take.
