Final Cut multicam: choose angles without changing their sources
Use Final Cut’s angle viewer to choose the camera shown in a multicam edit. Use the angle editor to change the underlying angles and their synchronization. These actions operate at different levels: adjusting the parent’s source arrangement can affect multiple edited instances, while cutting between angles builds a particular sequence.

Decide whether the problem belongs to the source or the edit
Find the moment that needs correction and identify the intended camera and soundtrack. If all uses of a camera are out of sync, inspect the parent angle arrangement. If the cameras are synchronized but the wrong person appears at one moment, the problem is the angle choice in the edited sequence.
Keep a reference of the accepted edit before changing its sources. Duplicate the browser multicam clip before experimenting with the parent. A project can contain many uses of that source, so fixing one visible instance is not sufficient evidence that other sequences remain correct.
Use the angle viewer for camera decisions
Open the angle viewer while working with the multicam timeline. Choose whether switching affects video, audio or both, then cut or switch to the intended angle. Apple supports independent picture and sound decisions, so a continuous interview microphone can remain selected while the picture changes between cameras.
Check the switching mode before a series of cuts. An unintended audio switch can produce changing room tone or dialogue levels even though the pictures look correct. Review the first switch immediately rather than making many edits under an incorrect assumption about the active mode.
Use the angle editor for parent-level corrections
Double-click the browser multicam clip to open the angle editor. Its tools can adjust synchronization, angle order and the media within angles. Apple states that angle-editor changes propagate to child uses of the parent, including uses in other projects. Opening it from an edited instance does not make those source changes local to that instance.
The angle editor is not the place to cut or switch between camera angles. Return to the project and its angle viewer for those editorial decisions. Keep a note of any parent timing adjustment so another editor can distinguish a synchronization correction from a new camera-selection pass.
Verify the sequence and other affected uses
Play through several camera changes with headphones, checking lip synchronization and continuity of the selected audio. Inspect a quiet passage as well as speech: an accidental microphone change may be more apparent in the background than in a loud sentence.
After a parent edit, inspect representative uses in other projects before accepting it. Export a short reviewed sequence and confirm its picture and soundtrack agree with the intended switches. A rendered file retains the chosen result, not the editable set of camera decisions or all original angles.
Worked example
Example: a two-camera interview needs more reaction shots, but its audio should stay on the lavalier microphone. The editor switches video only in the angle viewer. They do not move clips in the angle editor, which would alter the shared source arrangement rather than simply choosing a different shot.
