HandBrake chapters: match imported names to the selected source
HandBrake can carry source chapter markers into supported outputs, but chapter labels and a selected encoding range need separate checks. An imported list must correspond to the actual source’s chapter order. Verify the saved navigation in the receiving player; a chapter CSV is neither the movie nor proof that every requested source interval was encoded.

Identify the title and detected chapter inventory
Open the authorized source, choose the intended Title and inspect the Chapters tab. Record the actual detected count and order alongside meaningful scene boundaries. Automatically generated names such as Chapter 1 are navigation labels, not evidence about a scene’s subject or completeness.
Keep the parent and decide whether the delivery contains the whole title or a selected range. A source chapter list from another cut can associate a plausible name with the wrong action. Compare a recognizable first scene and later boundary before editing or importing labels.
Use the native chapter naming and import controls
Edit the displayed chapter names directly when the current inventory is correct. For a supported native import/export workflow, export a template from the actual installation and preserve its structure. The official documentation describes numbered name CSV import on Windows and macOS, with XML template behavior for Linux; check the installed interface rather than assuming identical controls.
A documented CSV name entry associates a chapter number with a name. Do not invent timestamps or use an unrelated caption file as that list. Keep required punctuation and quoting through a supported editor when names contain separators. Preview the imported names in the native chapter inventory before encoding.
Verify the chosen range and saved navigation
Choose the intended Range and output destination explicitly. Keep your full-source chapter notes separate from an excerpt’s local playback positions. After encoding, reopen the actual file in a player with chapter navigation and select a beginning, middle and ending chapter as appropriate.
Compare the reached action with the intended label and inspect any range that began or ended inside the original title. A receiver can display a chapter list while a source-version mismatch still sends the viewer to the wrong scene. Check both navigation and actual picture or sound instead of approving the names alone.
Keep chapters, captions and separate clips distinct
A chapter marker does not split the output into independent files and does not carry a full transcript. Retain separately required caption sidecars or project context through their own verified handoff. If another recipient requires individually editable shots, use an appropriate supported export task rather than renaming chapter records as movies.
The cited chapter documentation is a native workflow reference, not a promise that any source without chapter markers can receive arbitrary new chapters through this interface. SocialVidDownloader does not expose HandBrake chapter imports. Preserve the parent, accepted list and chosen range, and leave a missing or mismatched navigation result unapproved instead of manufacturing chapter metadata to claim full retention.
Worked example
Example: an imported chapter-name list came from a longer source version. The file opens and shows every label, but a later label reaches a different scene. The reviewer compares the selected title and saved boundaries, corrects the association and retains the original list as context rather than approving misleading navigation.
