HandBrake queued jobs: edit the job and preserve its actual inputs

Identify the source, title and saved job settings

Open the authorized source, choose the intended title and configure the actual receiving task before using Add to Queue. The official queue workflow exposes entries through Show Queue. Compare the source, range, preset and destination of the queued entry with the movie you mean to deliver.

Keep the required original files and relevant external subtitle resources in stable permitted locations. Queue serialization or a saved job list can reference them without containing their bytes. A queue imported on another machine can therefore fail even when its displayed source name and settings look reasonable.

Edit and retry a particular task deliberately

HandBrake documents editing an existing queue job through the queue's Edit action, which opens its source in the main window and removes the queued entry. Review the changed settings and add the intended task again. Use the installed platform's actual edit control rather than assuming a main-window adjustment silently rewrote every pending item.

For multiple titles or revisions, choose unique destinations and inspect the actual resolved names. The official workflow describes automatic naming with title context; a repeated output path can create a collision. Preserve an earlier verified result and inspect the failed artifact's status before accepting an overwrite or rerunning an entire successful batch.

Verify individual completion and receiving outputs

Check each relevant job's result and diagnostic log, then inspect its actual file. A remaining queue entry, completed scan or nonempty partial destination is not an accepted movie. Open the saved output and review the beginning, intended sound, final event and selected range.

If one task fails, retain enough safe diagnostic context to identify that task and keep completed outputs separate. A retry still depends on current readable inputs and supported encoder settings. SocialVidDownloader does not import HandBrake queues or promise durable resumption of native jobs. Its bounded processing state is another workflow, and its real prepared file should not be confused with a desktop queue record.

Worked example

Example: an editor adjusts crop in the main window after adding an earlier job, then encodes the old entry. Inspect and edit that queued task explicitly rather than assuming the later panel state replaced it. Verify the new output name and saved picture before discarding the previous artifact.
