Matroska cues: seeking information is not picture decoding
Matroska cues help a receiver locate positions in a presentation; they are not the compressed pictures themselves. A movie that plays sequentially but seeks badly needs a different diagnosis from one with persistent decode errors. Preserve the original and compare those behaviors before assuming an index rebuild restores damaged source content.

Compare continuous playback with selected jumps
Choose identifiable events near the beginning, middle and ending and play through their surrounding intervals. Then seek to those events in the same receiver. Record whether failure appears only after a jump, at a repeatable file position or even during continuous reading. A brief decoder startup delay and a permanently broken passage are different observations.
Repeat a controlled test in another compatible receiver if available. Some readers can scan or use other location information when cues are absent or handled differently. Successful opening and a plausible duration are not proof that every seek target or decoded frame is correct, and an absent cue index alone does not prove lost picture data.
Inspect the actual container and track context
Use an appropriate container inspector to identify cues and their target-track context. Keep track identifiers distinct from numeric stream order. A cue that refers to a particular track and time is part of a broader container structure; copying a printed timestamp into a player offset is not a repair of that structure.
For an authorized source that can be parsed, a suitable remuxer may create new indexing while repackaging encoded media. Save to a distinct output and check the tool's messages. Do not treat remuxing as guaranteed recovery when source packets, configuration or storage reads are damaged. Stream copy can also change surrounding metadata, so preserve required resources explicitly.
Verify the resulting seek path and retained resources
Inspect the saved derivative and repeat the same continuous and seeked passages in the intended receiver. Confirm sound after seeks, visible frame identity and the ending. A new file with the same duration can still omit an alternate track, attachment or chapter requirement, so compare those resources when the handoff needs them.
Record the actual source, operation and tests and retain a recoverable original. If decoding errors remain, keep them separate from improved navigation and seek indexing. SocialVidDownloader does not expose Matroska cue repair or guarantee reconstruction of missing encoded media. A valid download, a playable preview and a smoothly seekable local handoff are distinct outcomes that need evidence for the particular artifact.
Worked example
Example: a local MKV plays a full interview sequentially but repeatedly jumps to the wrong moment in one receiver. Compare another compatible reader and inspect indexing context. If a separate remux improves navigation, verify audio and required resources too; do not describe that as recovered missing picture information.
