Safari Reader omits a video: return to the actual source page
Safari Reader presents selected page content for reading; it is not guaranteed to reproduce every player and surrounding control from the original page. If a video disappears only in Reader, return to the ordinary page and check the actual recording before diagnosing source removal or a failed media download.

Compare the page modes on the same recording
Identify the individual source page and compare its normal view with Reader using the current Safari interface. Keep the URL and account context unchanged where possible. A focused reading presentation can omit surrounding interactive elements without proving that the platform's stored recording disappeared.
Check whether the item is genuinely a supported individual video or an article with an embedded player. A publisher's article address is not automatically a public platform URL accepted by the downloader. Reader text, a copied headline or an embedded thumbnail is also not an independently retained movie file.
Inspect ordinary playback and access separately
Return to the full page through Safari's supported Reader control and use the actual player's available actions. Confirm a recognizable scene and sound before relying on the title. If playback remains absent in ordinary mode, record that different observation and investigate source availability or the receiving page's own loading conditions.
Keep permission and access boundaries intact. Reader does not authorize private-content extraction, bypass an account requirement or expose a valid media file merely by displaying article text. A source that opens in an authorized account can still be unavailable to public backend extraction; do not provide that account's password to the website.
Verify any retained artifact independently
For a supported authorized source, analyze the actual individual source URL and inspect the genuine returned formats. Save a prepared output through the separate file delivery action and verify its local size, duration and playback. Reading a page without advertisements or opening a browser preview is not that completed transfer.
If a Reader-only layout was the cause, describe the result as a viewing-mode difference rather than a repaired or recovered source. Preserve the exact page identity and the normal-versus-Reader comparison in support notes without exposing unrelated browsing history or private account details.
Worked example
Example: an article's text appears in Reader but its embedded player is absent. The same recording still plays on the normal page. That establishes a presentation difference, not deleted media. If a separate permitted file is needed, identify its supported source and complete an actual saving workflow.
