Snapchat Spotlight unavailable: check the content type first
Snapchat Spotlight downloading is Beta/experimental and depends on the individual public clip remaining accessible. Confirm a Spotlight link before troubleshooting. Snapchat Story downloading is not supported here, and a profile or Story link must not be marketed as a working Spotlight download merely because it belongs to Snapchat.

Identify an individual Spotlight clip
Spotlight is a distinct Snapchat content surface. Use the share link for the intended Spotlight item, not a profile landing page, chat attachment, or Story. Supported share resolution must lead to an actual recognized public clip rather than an unrelated page.
If analysis succeeds, inspect the returned item and preview before selecting output. A creator profile may contain several kinds of media, so profile visibility alone does not identify a downloadable Spotlight recording. If the content type is wrong, obtain the appropriate item link where available rather than guessing identifiers or replacing parts of the path.
Distinguish unavailable content from provider instability
An individual clip can become removed, restricted, or otherwise inaccessible. Extraction may also fail temporarily because source behavior changes. A generic unavailable response does not prove which condition occurred. Keep the actual message and compare the current source evidence without claiming access beyond what the service receives.
Beta status means some valid public attempts can fail. A successful sample does not establish universal coverage. A title or thumbnail is not enough to claim a usable file; genuine formats must exist and preparation must complete. If no usable media is returned, show a clear limitation rather than a hard-coded preview or fake quality choice.
Check preparation and the final saved copy
Retry later with the original supported Spotlight link where a temporary failure is plausible. Reanalyze an expired session instead of repeating stale file addresses. If a configured time or size limit blocks the output, a suitable smaller real option may help only where the source provides it.
After a ready result, verify the browser transfer and local playback. Report whether the link was a direct Spotlight URL or a share link, the chosen output, and the stage of failure. Do not supply account credentials or attempt private-content workarounds. Story requests remain unsupported, and there is no alternative Story viewer page promised by this workflow. The Snapchat hub should direct users to the experimental Spotlight tool with truthful content-type limits.
Worked example
Illustrative case: a Snapchat profile is publicly viewable but the submitted item is a Story. The tool returns unsupported content rather than pretending it is Spotlight. A separate public Spotlight link can be attempted, with Beta messaging and verification of the actual resulting file.
