Audacity Sync-Lock: verify the whole affected track group
Audacity Sync-Lock coordinates length and position changes within defined track groups, including affected tracks that are not ordinarily selected. It preserves an existing timing relationship during applicable edits; it does not automatically synchronize two recordings. Check the group boundaries and indicators before deleting time, then verify all affected sound and labels afterward.

Define what must remain aligned
Keep a saved project and identify the related dialogue, music and label tracks. Record a shared landmark before the edit and another later in the sequence. A coherent soundtrack may need those relationships preserved even when only one waveform contains the material you want to remove.
Native groups use adjacent tracks; a label track can delimit groups. This is not an arbitrary command to link any individually chosen tracks regardless of their placement. Check the actual ordering and group boundaries so another song or narration version does not become part of the intended coordinated edit by accident.
Inspect native selection and Sync-Lock state
Use Tracks, Sync-Lock Tracks in the documented interface and inspect the track control indicators. Enabling it does not realign an existing offset. When a selected track belongs to an affected group, other tracks can show a patterned Sync-Lock selection rather than ordinary dark selection.
Do not judge edit scope solely from the waveform you clicked. The group’s length-changing operation can also affect those indicated unselected tracks. Where separate groups exist, identify which groups are included and which remain unaffected. Record the setting before returning to another task rather than assuming it applies only to this one edit.
Make a small coordinated edit and verify every contribution
Choose a short documented interval in a disposable working version and perform the intended deletion or insertion. Compare the source and result at the first later landmark, then inspect the end and label positions. A waveform that shifts by the expected amount does not establish that nothing valuable was removed from another affected track.
Listen to all affected contributions together and separately where meaningful. A silent dialogue pause can overlap a wanted music phrase or another participant. Coordinating time removal preserves relative placement of what remains, but it cannot preserve content that the edit actually deletes. Undo and revise the interval when the result no longer matches the intended performance.
Keep video timing and delivery checks separate
Audacity’s audio and label group behavior does not edit a movie in another application. If the soundtrack must match picture, reproduce the accepted timeline decision in the receiving editor and compare action and cue landmarks throughout the saved movie. A shorter exported audio track should not be attached to unchanged picture under a claim of preserved synchronization.
Save the accepted project and export the intended audio scope under a new name. Verify its duration and actual content independently. SocialVidDownloader does not control native Audacity track groups or automatically translate these edits into a video timeline. Keep the parent and edit record, and leave an incorrectly grouped or incomplete result unapproved rather than treating enabled Sync-Lock as proof of correctness.
Worked example
Example: deleting a silent narration interval also removes time from an indicated music track. The later speech marker remains aligned, but a wanted musical phrase is gone. The reviewer revises the edit instead of assuming that synchronized movement guarantees preservation of every contribution.
