Matroska reader versions: container requirements and optional roles
A Matroska document version and minimum reader version answer different compatibility questions. The required reader level reflects which format features a reader must understand; it is not a codec quality setting. Inspect the actual features and selected track roles instead of assuming a large version number proves that a file is damaged or visually superior.

Separate container-level requirements from decoding
Identify the reported document and minimum-reader information using a suitable container inspector. Compare it with the receiving application's documented format support. A reader can understand a container's structure while lacking a codec decoder, or decode ordinary tracks while not supporting an advanced presentation feature.
Preserve the original rather than editing version numbers simply to make a compatibility warning disappear. A lowered requirement label does not remove the feature that prompted it or transform encoded media. If a simpler derivative is needed, use a documented conversion path and record what was changed or omitted.
Inspect advanced track dependencies and role labels
Some Matroska track structures can describe operations involving other track resources rather than one ordinary independent stream. A virtual or combined presentation therefore requires compatible support and its actual dependent components. A track entry existing in metadata is not proof that every player can render that presentation.
Default and accessibility-related flags identify intended selection or purpose, not verified accuracy or a guaranteed listening result. A track marked for an accessibility role still needs appropriate content and receiver support. Listen and inspect the actual resource instead of assuming a flag generates audio description, captions or a particular quality level.
Verify the practical receiving artifact
Open the intended file in the target receiver and test required stream selection and meaningful passages. Compare role labels with actual content and verify any advanced track dependencies. Keep an ordinary viewing derivative distinct from a preserved container with richer features when the collaboration needs both.
If the receiver lacks a feature, state that limit and agree on an authorized alternative rather than relabelling every field as compatible. SocialVidDownloader does not edit Matroska reader requirements or manufacture missing accessibility content. Its available source inventory and local operations must be judged by genuine returned resources, and a successful metadata parse cannot certify every optional container feature across all readers.
Worked example
Example: an inspector lists an advanced track relationship while the recipient's player only offers ordinary independent tracks. Changing the displayed document version does not implement that relationship. Retain the original, identify a supported receiving representation and verify any labelled accessibility resource by its actual content.
