Find video downloads and their destination in Edge
Use Microsoft Edge's Downloads view to check whether a video transfer finished and to locate its saved copy. If the folder differs from your expectation, inspect Edge's destination setting. A source preview and a completed download are separate events with different evidence.

Match the file to a download entry
Open Downloads from Edge's menu and find the entry for your video. Match the timestamp and filename, especially if several attempts produced similar names. Wait for an active transfer to finish before testing the copy. An interrupted or failed entry is not a ready video.
Use the location action to reveal a completed file. The exact control depends on operating system and browser version. If you used a destination prompt, that choice may differ from the usual folder. Record the actual path so that subsequent checks refer to the same copy rather than another attempt made before the problem occurred.
Inspect the configured destination
In Edge settings, open Downloads and review Location. Check whether the browser asks where to save each file. Changing the default affects future saves; it does not move a video that was downloaded into a previous directory.
On Windows, the selected directory may sit inside OneDrive or another synchronized location. Confirm local availability before relying on the file offline. A managed device may constrain download behavior through administrator policy. Use an allowed location rather than bypassing the restriction. Search by filename if you moved an earlier copy after Edge completed its transfer, and do not confuse a shortcut with the underlying video.
Troubleshoot security and playback separately
If Edge blocks the file, read the reason and verify its origin. A video retrieval task should not require installing an unrelated executable or extension. Keep protections enabled while deciding whether the proposed file is appropriate to save.
For a completed transfer, check the saved size and open the media in a compatible player. If there is no entry, confirm the downloader produced a ready file and its save action was used. Reanalyze an expired source session instead of retrying an old temporary link indefinitely. Preserve the selected format and exact message when seeking help: those details identify the failed stage more precisely than reporting that the video disappeared.
Worked example
Illustrative case: Edge's default directory is changed to an external drive after a clip was saved. The existing clip remains in the earlier folder. Revealing its original download entry finds that copy; the changed setting controls only subsequent saves.
